To get rid of skunks, scare them away with balloons. These black-and-white members of the weasel family can dig up your lawn, get in your trash, and spray you or your pets with their terrible scent. One way to run them off is to blow up regular latex balloons and tie them in bunches around your house, patio, and property where the skunks hang out. This works for raccoons, too, say pest management specialists. The balloons rustling around may be enough to frighten the little stinkers, but if a skunk happens to pop a balloon, the noise will really get them running. (However, if a young skunk pops a balloon, it may be scared so badly that it will emit a little scent.)
You can also scare skunks away by sprinkling fox urine around your yard. The smell will make them fear that a predator has been nearby and will encourage them to move along. Try a product such as Shake-Away Fox Urine Powder, available from online pest control dealers.
Get rid of grubs. Controlling the grubs in your lawn will cut down on your skunk problem, since skunks feed on them.
