Whether you call them groundhogs or woodchucks, these large rodents are the gardener’s nemesis. They adore succulent vegetables from your garden and they gnaw constantly—cucumbers, young tree trunks, you name it. These wily animals also leave behind ankle-wrenching potholes in the lawn.
Give peace a chance by planting a decoy crop of lettuce near the entrance to their tunnel. With luck, you’ll keep them satisfied eating "their" lettuce instead of yours. If that doesn’t work, the fumes of fox urine concentrate, which you can purchase at hunting stores, will discourage groundhogs from entering your garden. Be careful where you sprinkle this substance; the smell packs a punch.

Keep groundhogs away from your plants or they will destroy them.
