As a gardener you cherish the color, fragrance, and beauty that flowers bring to your garden in every season. Daffodils in spring, roses in summer, chrysanthemums in fall, snowdrops in winter— all have their moment on center stage. Sometimes, however, with all that beauty comes trouble. If you decide to design a garden from scratch, you can discourage problems by choosing pest- and disease-resistant flowering plants. Most gardeners have established flower gardens and may well have plants that are not so resilient. In any case, it is the rare garden that isn’t vulnerable to some degree.
As a rule, when you discover unwanted visitors or the signs of disease, take the most environmentally friendly approaches, with careful use of organic and chemical treatments.
