These instructions will help you assemble the sides of an arbor. If anything seems unclear, visit a gardening center to speak with an expert.

Mark each post with the positions of the stretchers, then screw the stretchers to one post for each side. Drive one screw at an angle through the center on one side of each stretcher, then drive two angled screws from the other side about one-third of the way from each edge. Screw the stretchers to the other post for each side in the same way.

Screw a rail to the top on the outside of each frame. Make sure it is flush with the post tops and edges and use a framing square to get it square with the posts.

Next, install the lattice sections. Nail a row of strips to each post using a spacer to inset them from the inside edge of each post. Use a 1/2-inch thick block as a spacer for 1-inch thick lattice, a 3/4-inch thick spacer block with 1/2-inch thick lattice. Set the lattice in place and nail a second row of strips to hold it in place.

If you find this a bit confusing, don't despair. You can visit a gardening center and someone there should be able to help you out by demonstrating how the process is done.
